Last year Polymer Innovations was approached by Toowoomba University to seal leaks that have been experienced in the man made lakes & ponds at Toowoomba's Japanese gardens.
We were honoured to successfully bid for this project & soon organised ourselves with the help of our Queensland dam seal agents to treat & seal these beautiful waterways at Toowoomba in December 2010.
Unfortunately, this project was completed before the tragedy that was the Queensland floods which destroyed much of Queensland's South East region including Toowoomba, the nearby Lockyer Valley & Brisbane.
Despite Toowoomba being 690m above see level it was completely destroyed by a massive wall of water killing 9 people in Toowoomba alone.
We were planning to publish this post earlier this year but then the floods hit South East Queensland in January.
Then cyclone Yasi hit North East Queensland in February & then the Japanese earthquake hit in March.
We did not want to appear like we were cashing in on any kind of publicity from these tragedies, so we waited...
Recently we rang the Toowoomba University & amazingly the campus reports that the floods have not destroyed the Japanese gardens. Our sealing treatments have not been compromised at all & in fact are working as designed!
After receiving this great news we thought now would be the best time to share with you the productive work we did before all of the devastation.
Two large ponds in particular were treated with very special attention to the safety of the flora & fauna in these majestic gardens such as ducks, frogs, carps & cherry blossoms, etc.
Two key reasons why we won this project was because all of our polymers are manufactured at the highest quality standards & are 100% non toxic & biodegradable.
The second key reason is our ability to treat sandy or silty soil bases that are otherwise untreatable with Water$ave PL Plug alone or by our competitors.
Instead, these types of soils are treated with our other dam sealing polymer Water$ave PL Seep with further treatment also with Water$ave Flobind.

| Use Water$ave Seep for Porous Soil Types. |
- Water$ave PL Seep specifically designed for dams, ponds or canals that contain fine porous soil types that contain any cracks & crevices narrower than 4mm.
Seep hydrates & expands up to 200 times it's particle size.
Seep is perfect for porous, fine, sandy or silty soils, basalts, clays & volcanic soils. - Water$ave Flobind is a slimey polymer that is extremely versatile & assists with all water & pollution issues.
It is a water soluble polymer specifically designed to control soil erosion & improve water infiltration.
It flocculates suspended fine soil particles & stabilises existing soil structure.
Flobind is ideal for smaller applications where powder or emulsion dosing systems are not practical.
Click Here to view these treatments of the Toowoomba Japanese Gardens.
Water$ave Seep & Flobind application to the Japanese Garden's took 3 days to complete.
- Day 1: Treatment of the base of the two main ponds by applying Water$ave Seep over water surface from a small boat, at a rate of 100gm/m2.
- Day 2: Treatment of the rockeries & shorelines of the two main ponds by applying Water$ave Seep, at a rate of 100gm/m2.
- Day3: Final treatment of 4kg of Flobind to finalise the treatment of the silty & sandy base of the ponds.
Flobind being a slimey polymer can be applied via hose from an IBC to the water surface.
Polymer Innovations would like take this opportunity to wish the survivors of the recent floods & earthquakes in Toowoomba & Japan the very best in their recovery from these recent natural disasters.
If there is anything we can do to assist please let us know. This post is in your honour. P)
