Polymer Innovations In Odour Suppression Part 1

Introduction & Testing
Polymer Innovations is not just a name it is a philosophy. A 'mission statement' as well as a title.

'Manure-luru'
Sometimes these innovations with our polymers come from all sources of inspiration.

Recently, a nearby housing development in Rutherford has been experiencing a very foul situation in the form of not one but two giant mounds of chicken manure!!

We were approached by representatives of nearby residents who constantly experience wafts of offensive manure odour across their nearby neighbourhoods.
These mounds constantly hamper the enjoyment of their new dwellings... not to mention being an embarrassing & dangerous nuisance.

Amazingly, these mounds have been recklessly placed near a water course!

An inspection of the site was soon carried out & samples taken for analysis & testing.

These mounds attract a huge mount of flies that sit like a haze over the top creating an unsanitary environment creating more odour & undermining it's structural integrity.

Samples taken from
the site for testing.
Maintaining structural integrity is important.
The polymer must 'cap' the manure. Removing it's smell & any runoff during rainfall.
Spontaneous combustion has also been identified as a potential threat.

The goals of the project:
  1. Remove Odour.
  2. Remove Runoff.
  3. Remove Fly Activity.
  4. Stabilise Mound.
  5. Reduce Combustibility.
Below is a short video overview of one test being conducted.
In this example we are trialling different levels of liquid anionic polymer & some super absorbent polymer powder applications against the effects of exposure, heat, water, wind & time.

After a week of different tests a perfect polymer solution had been formulated.

These solutions removed all odour & fly activity, increased it's structural integrity via water application & mitigated any possibility of combustion.
