This deforestation of native vegetation creates many new problems, such as soil erosion or air pollution.
Ecology destruction effects both animal & plant species that can then contribute to disease, food shortages & a general imbalance in all ecosystems that we share.
Deforestation reduces the planets capacity to convert Carbon Dioxide to Oxygen which many say is a major contributor to global warming.
Deforestation causes a myriad of problems for us all now & long into the future.
It is always in our best interest to give back as much as we take.
Many of these ecosystems never fully recover to their original state such as rainforests & in ecosystems that can it takes at least a generation or two before we see any real recovery for plants, animals & us to flourish.
Land clearing increases the occurrence & severity of water evaporation, this in turn contributes to soil salinity & drought.
It also increases nutrient leeching & therefore groundwater pollution not to mention erosion & flooding, further exacerbating the problem.
It decreases biodiversity which leads to the proliferation of some species that prosper such as locusts & the reduction of necessary species such as birds or worms.
Soil aeration is also reduced which in turn again decreases soil fertility & soil stability.
If there is a way to assist this recovery & increase the rate of regrowth then we should utilize it wherever possible.
In Australia's history since white settlement especially there has been a lot of land clearing for farming, grazing, urban development & road construction.
As we have discovered the error of our ways we have over recent decades started to turn that trend around with revegetation & reforestation increasing from the good work of organisations such as Landcare, farmers, graziers & land owners across the country. There is however a long way to go to reverse these potentially devastating activities.
The graph above illustrates the beginning of this turn around.

Polymer Innovations Water$ave PT Plantation is highly effective in the replanting of trees, bushes & saplings to assist in revegetation & reforestation.
Water$ave PT makes it possible to reduce the mortality rate of plants from transplant shock.
It enhances the root development of the plant which therefore brings about more rapid growth & production reducing the time it takes to regrow the affected area.
Water$ave PT Plantation main benefits:
- Enhance plant growth & survival.
- Increase the water holding capacity of soils.
- Reduce watering frequency by up to 50%.
- Protect the environment against drought & groundwater pollution.
- Improve physical properties of compact soil.
- Reduce water evaporation from soil.
- Limit leaching of nutrients & fertilizers.
- Improve soil porosity & aeration.
- As with all Polymer Innovations products it is non toxic, environmentally friendly & biodegradable.
Water$ave PT can potentially reduce the time it takes the native vegetation to reclaim it's environment.
Watersave PT application information:
- Add 6g of Water$ave PT per tree planting.
- The polymer must be evenly mixed into the excavated soil.
- Place the root ball of the plant at the bottom of the hole and fill in the hole with the treated soil.
- Make sure that Water$ave is distributed evenly around the roots.
- Then cover the surface with 5cm of untreated soil to prevent degradation of the polymer by UV rays & stagnation of water on the surface.
- Water$ave TF is available in easy to use 20kg pails.
Our Water$ave PT Plantation range is not currently available online.
